Statement

Jon Howe is a British artist living in Brighton, East Sussex. He graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from the University of Reading, U.K., in 1997 and a MFA in Sculpture from the School of Art, University of Washington, Seattle, U.S.A., in 2001.

Among the wide range of media including drawing, painting, printmaking and video, Jon Howe is known for his unique mixed-media postcard collages. This body of work started in 1999 is from, what is now a huge series of postcard collages/a mail-art project, as they are sent via the postal services. The selected pieces are based around a lose narrative through the images and the ideas of color/composition, packaging/design/instructional advertising and international ethnicity/travel/tourism. Jon has also started to recreate them as paintings on canvas and as hand-colored photolithographs. Jon’s work has been represented at the Most Wanted Fine Art gallery in Pittsburgh, PA.

Jon Howe at a one-day workshop created these two prints with John Lysak and Egress Press and Research while he was a resident artist at Most-Wanted Fine Art studio in Pittsburgh, PA in 2007 and 2009. To learn more about Most Wanted Fine Art visit
